Election Day is a unique collaboration between Juergen Teller, Vivienne Westwood, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and Westwood s husband, Andreas Kronthaler, and brings together images from Westwood s Spring/Summer 09 advertising campaign. The photographs show a romp starring Anderson, Westwood, Kronthaler and rock band The Queens of the Stone Age. Teller s mise en scène escapes precise categorisation, combining images of the protagonists in a golf buggy, Anderson reading Plato s Republic with her nipple visible through sheer fabric, Westwood and Anderson frolicking in clothes baskets in a laundrette, and the two beaming in front of a television announcing Barack Obama s imminent victory. The cavorting characters elaborate a bizarre narrative which highlights the hope surrounding Obama s victory, the quintessential nature of Westwood s clothes, and Teller s signature style.
