Essays on Modern and Contemporary Vietnamese Art

This compilation of essays is a result of the papers that were presented at a three-day international symposium in 2008 organised by Singapore Art Museum. The event was held in conjunction with the exhibition Post-Doi Moi: Vietnamese Art after 1990 that was part of the National Heritage Board’s celebration of 35 years of diplomatic ties between Singapore and Vietnam. The symposium was the first of its kind with a contemporary visual art of a Southeast Asian country, examining the developments that took place in Vietnam since the colonial period until the present. The essays are further complimented by important contributions whose authors are key players in the field of Vietnamese art.

This publication is bilingual and will be an important reference for English and Vietnamese speakers who have keen interest in Vietnamese art.
