The Creative Design Space (CDS), conceptualized and executed by leading book distributor APD Singapore Pte Ltd and the Department of Fashion Studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), is a first of its kind in Singapore. Envisioned as both a resource centre and exhibition space. The purposefully designed gallery will serve both students and faculties at NAFA, as well as creative cognoscenti in the other colleges, schools, arts centres and galleries in the immediate area, which is also known as "Singapore Creative Hub".
CDS is the place where students, teachers, members of the wider artistic community and the general public come to catch up on news of the latest trends in art and design, both locally and globally. Exhibitions, students shows, talks and debates by visiting and local authors/artists, book and product launches and such like will form the fabric of the centre’s activities, while new books on all things design will be showcased. A student volunteer council will be encouraged to participate with teachers and CDS personnel to organize events that are relevant to the student body. Student design competitions, end-of-year shows and displays of students’ work will complement the events and exhibitions that are staged from outside.
Following the declared mission to develop the city-state into a centre where design innovation drives economic growth and enhances citizens’ quality of life, it will help nurture creativity in the immediate locale — and beyond.
CDS is housed in a spacious, ground-floor space with floor-to-ceiling windows fronting Bencoolen Street. Centre stage is given to an eye-catching shelving unit that displays a plethora of art and design books, while an ample raised dais provides further space for rotating exhibitions and displays. Behind the scene there are changing rooms and storage areas — so the space is ideal for fashion catwalk events and small-scale shows.
CDS welcomes artists, lecturers and students of art to use its space for inspiration and exchange of ideas. Artists who wish to exhibit their works or organise activities may contact us.

Monday — Friday, 9.30 a.m. — 5.30 p.m.
